Calling all Metalcore fans!

Time to bring out your head-banging skills to the test this April, because Avenged Sevenfold is coming to town! The only pre-requisite you need for this concert would be strong neck muscles. That’s about it.

Avenged Sevenfold released their 5th album “Nightmare” in July 2010, topping 3 Billboard charts (Rock, Hard Rock and Digital), going Gold by the RIAA and selling over 660000 albums worldwide.

They even won 4 “Golden God Awards” for the album. Did you even know such an award existed? Golden God Awards!

But seriously, the album is really good if you haven’t heard it. You’ll have to understand rock/metal music. This isn’t your ordinary K-pop stuff. Neither is it your Justin Bieber or your Taylor Swift. This is Metal. The feeling of a dense silvery heat and electrical conductive material in your veins when you listen to them. Metal.

So if you need some metal freedom, and are in dire need to escape from mainstream pop you hear on the radio everyday, and feeling a little heavier than rock and heavier than hard rock, and would love watching guitars get shredded and drums get… well, drummed, then you HAVE to go for this concert.

Because they are, undoubtedly, one of the metal bands that must be in your music band dictionary.

Catch them rock hard at the Hard Rock Hotel! (Geddit geddit? rock hard at the Hard Rock hotel??)

Details after the break.

Live Radio is back!

And this time it’s Hugs and Kisses XOXO, the SMUBE way.

We’re going to take you back to the days when anonymous love letters and saccharine song dedications abound. This Valentine’s Day, we’re going Cupid to win over some hearts!

So you’ve been eyeing that girl in your class, you know, the one you keep trying to grab a seat one row behind from? Well, we’ll play her a song for you! All you have to do is to let us know when she’ll come a-strolling by (15 minutes after class ends, we reckon, unless she stops to chat up the prof) and leave the rest to our charming DJs.

But that’s too corny you say?

Ok, how about we deliver that carefully handcrafted note you spent half a seminar writing to her? And we’ll be your voice and even read it aloud in our best Shakespearean swagger. We guarantee that our DJs are well versed in the literary arts and it’ll only be a tragedy if that note of yours never gets to her because it’s still in your back pocket.

And there’s absolutely no catch at all!

These are all complimentary services extended to you, our faithful listeners, because if there’s anyone who understands when things only go one-way, it’s us.

So take a leap of faith this Valentine’s Day and start your dedications at:

Live Radio 2012: Show Your Love

Visit us outside Pick and Bite on the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day, from 11.30am to 5.30pm for Live Radio 2012! Take photos with our life-sized Cupid Balloon Sculpture!! Stick your lovely post-its on our crush letter bulletin board!! Perhaps, even a date or two with our gorgeous and handsome DJs.

Moving swiftly forward from Dublin and onto the East Asia continent, the band hit off their tour with Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, before finally coming to Singapore . The crowd was absolutely insane, and you could feel the excitement rubbing off onto the local hit band The Auditory Effect, which received rapturous applause and cheers even though you knew that everyone was there for Foster the People.

Opening off with the energetic Houdini, they carried the audience away into a series of fast beats and melodic tunes with their hits Life on the Nickel and Call It What You Want, before pulling a bait-and-switch, surprising everyone with a cover of Weezer’s Say It Ain’t So. After the high-tempo beats, Mark Pontius and Cubbie Fink took a break, while Mark Foster whipped out an acoustic expository on the keyboards in a first ever heartwarming and temperamental piece (Ruby) for the cool night.

Despite a constant shuffling between percussion and instruments, the band laudably basked and evolved into an effervescent hype that kept a stronghold on their screaming fans till Helena Beat. The energy was played and controlled almost as perfectly as the band’s instruments, with just the right expanse of puissance when he dipped into slower songs like Ruby and Warrant, before launching into the song that earned the group a nominated Best Track at the Q Awards, Pumped Up Kicks. It seemed almost a non-issue, especially with Mark Foster who led the vocals, for a harmonic traverse between the cover of Color on the Wall’s Don’t Stop to the Weezer Cover of Say It Isnt So.

To what was ostensibly the end of the setlist and the end of Pumped Up Kicks, Mark Foster forayed, to an ever expectant crowd, an even more pumped up (remix), dubstep syncopated rendition of Pumped Up Kicks to blow off the finale.

Foster the People have doubtless set the benchmark for the best new artist of the year, in a venue that that has played host to bands such as Muse and The Beastie Boys.

A huge thank you to Chugg Entertainment for bringing us Foster the People and for inviting SMU Broadcast and Entertainment to a concert experience like no other!

WHITESNAKE, the legendary rock ’n’ roll legacy founded and formed by renowned singer/songwriter David Coverdale, plans on making a huge splash on this side of the pacific on the Asian leg of the 2011 ‘FOREVERMORE’ Tour, playing at the historic Fort Canning Park in the beautiful and exciting city of Singapore on November 1 at 8pm.

Formed in 1977, and steered by the legendary Coverdale, Whitesnake carry a rightful reputation as one of the world’s leading rock’n’roll bands. Coverdale’s blues and soul roots, combined with a feral sense of rock and roll, have consistently shaped the ‘Snake’s sound, and add to that Coverdale’s love and appreciation of impeccable musicianship and you have a failsafe recipe for success.

Early 2009, they self-released their debut EP ~ Exquisite Corpse. Mixed by John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame, the EP successfully captures the band’s sonic textures and playful dynamism which is a hallmark of their live performances.

2010 saw the much anticipated release of the album “The Fools” on Rough Trade Records. This captured Indie hearts world-wide and featured the magic tracks ~

Onstage, Warpaint’s authenticity can shake a room into a dance frenzy, while simultaneously holding it in a trance-like dreamworld. The Band captivate their audiences and have opened for Yeasayer, Black Heart Procession, and The Slits to name a few.

Jan 2011 they made their welcome debut in Asia, by opening the inaugural Laneway Festival in Singapore to thunderous applause & enthralled us all.

Returning by popular demand, Warpaint perform again in Singapore for ONE NIGHT ONLY on August 2.

Dazed and Confused

(Exquisite Corpse) “A collection of magical psychedelia drifting over sublime moments of raw melody courtesy of the three free ethereal vocalists,”

The Independent

“They make a quite lovely sound with dreamy vocals, off-kilter hazy guitars.”

I-S

“Coming off like the lovechild of Cat Power and Sylvia Plath, Warpaint make soaring melancholy cooler than it’s been at any time since Morrissey first strode the stage. Those who caught their Laneway set witnessed something very special. Those who didn’t can now make amends”

LAMC Productions proudly presents Neon Trees and We are Scientists. Stand a chance to win a pair of tickets to watch them LIVE on 26th July 2011!

NEON TREES: Like their name, Neon Trees are a combination of slick pop hooks and sturdy organic rock, both melodic and hard-hitting, their anthems of adolescent angst, longing, love lost and found, delivered with the kind of heart-on-the-sleeve passion that only comes from hard work and commitment. Entertainment Weekly defined Neon Trees as their “best bets for airwave domination” and Rolling Stone had nothing but raves for their album: “Habits is filled with Eighties pop meshed with bombastic alt-rock choruses.” Neon Trees recently won “Top Alternative Song” for their platinum-plus single “Animal” at the 2011 Billboard Awards. Don’t miss this opportunity to catch one of the hottest new bands around! Neon Trees are Tyler Glenn (lead vocals and keyboards), Chris Allen (guitars), Branden Campbell (bass), and Elaine Bradley (drums and vocals).

WE ARE SCIENTISTS: Rock music of the thoughtful, sometimes epic, often loud, vaguely danceable, implicitly humanist variety. These New York based Indie Rockers began when Keith Murray and Chris Cain met in the latter’s college dorm room in California. Though at the time they couldn’t suspect any of the details of the coming decade they shocked themselves and impressed many others with their 2005 debut “With Love & Squalor”, which sold over 100,000 copies in the UK on the strength of dance floor standbys Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt; It’s A Hit; and The Great Escape, as well as nine other songs that, to all appearances, people also liked. In 2010 ex Razorlight Drummer Andy Burrows joined the band and they released the album “Barbara” which features the lead single “Rules Don’t Stop”.

LAMC Productions is proud to announce two of America’s most acclaimed alternative rock bands; NEON TREES and WE ARE SCIENTISTS will perform in Singapore on July 26th at Fort Canning Park (Fort Gate).

This will be his first ever performance here for the critically acclaimed musician, in support of his 12th solo album Dust Bowl, and one not to be missed!

In 2010, Bonamassa was named Billboard’s #1 Blues Artist based on the charting success of his last album Black Rock, the #2 Billboard Blues Album of 2010, and 2009′s Ballad of John Henry, which was #9. He was called “The Blues Rock Titan” by Guitar World and was honoured twice in Guitar Player Magazine’s 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards, winning “Best Overall Guitarist” for the first time and “Best Blues Guitarist” for the fourth consecutive year.

A New Yorker, 32 year old Bonamassa hails from a family of musicians, who picked up a guitar at the age of four. By age 12, the child prodigy was opening shows for blues icon B.B King and went on to tour with esteemed acts such as Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman.

Bonamassa averages 200 shows every year, almost always playing to sold out and ever-larger houses, and with each gig he comes more into his own as a virtuoso and a vocalist. He regularly draws accolades for his live musicianship and will play with his ace touring band consisting of Carmine Rojas (bass), Rick Melick (keyboards) and Tal Bergman (drums).

Lavigne was last here in 2008 and performed a sold out concert in front of her legions of local fans.

From a small town girl in Napanee, Ontario, Lavigne has made an indelible mark on the music community, selling more than 30 million albums worldwide, earning eight Grammy nominations and seven Canadian Juno Awards. She burst onto the music scene in 2002 with the critically acclaimed Let Go, featuring the smash singles “Sk8r Boi” and “Complicated.” Her 2004 release, Under My Skin, debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, as did her third album, The Best Damn Thing, which produced the irrepressible #1 single “Girlfriend” and logged more than 130 million views on YouTube.

No longer the skater girl, grown-up Lavigne is now 26, and with almost four years since her last album, plenty has happened. Insights from her experiences are reflected in her songs which gave the latest album a bittersweet mood, a slight departure from Lavigne’s best known tunes.

“Overall, the album is about how we all go through difficult experiences, whether it’s ending a relationship, losing a job, or just missing someone,” Lavigne says. “We get through it and we grow.”

Lavigne looks forward to hit the road again and perform for her fans. Singapore will be the third leg of the Asian tour. With her upcoming Hong Kong concert now effectively sold out local fans are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see her up close and personal once again.
