About Us
SMU Broadcast & Entertainment (SMUBE)
SMUBE is one of SMU's largest co-curricular activity clubs. Established in 2003, SMUBE has been recognized as the official media management and broadcaster in SMU. Home to two of the largest media broadcasting platforms, SMU Campus Radio and SMU Campus TV, the club also houses a talented pool of artistes under the care of the Artiste Management Team. From emcees, VJs, TV & Radio Presenters to voice talents, our artistes are not only the first choice for most student and school events but have also been high in demand for many commercial functions and corporate Dinner & Dances.
Some of our alumni include MediaCorp Artistes Jade Seah, Pornsak, Sim Yun Ying and Jackson Tan.
Voice Personality Hunt (VPH)
VPH is SMU Broadcast & Entertainment's annual talent competition where SMU students showcase their talents in emceeing, radio and TV presenting. Contestants are put through gruelling auditions and get a shot at being a Radio Presenter on Campus Radio, a TV Presenter in their own short film and a host on stage.
In 2007, SMUBE collaborated with sponsors Starhub and event partners Ripplevox, MTV Asia and Mediacorp to organise a 100-contestant strong event which ended in an electrifying finale on stage in SMU's city campus.
In 2008, VPH went beyond the confines of our campus as it expands to accommodate 150 participants, 3 audition rounds and a bigger venue for the finals. Spanning a total of 9 weeks, it proved to be the biggest and most publicised event organised by SMUBE ever.
